Why women love Titanic

6 Apr

I, like 99% of the female population, am obsessed with the movie “Titanic”. When I heard they were coming out with a 3D version, I said, “SIGN ME UP!”

Fun fact: I don’t even like 3D movies. 3D movies (and IMAX) give me headaches. I’m a huge fun sponge. Deal with it.

Here are some reasons why women LOVE Titanic.

1) Leonardo DiCaprio.

‘Nuff said.

But wait…

1(a) Floppy hair/blue eyes/shall I continue?

2) Kate Winslet.

She is beautiful and we are jealous.

OH! And homegirl can pull off red hair and blonde hair. Double jealous.

3) Awesome clothes.

I legitimately looked for a prom dress like this (10 years later) because I loved it so much.

God, I want to wear a hat suddenly.

Also, this movie makes me want to wear a corset. Isn’t that sickening?

4) Big diamonds.

I couldn’t find a close-up picture of her actual rock, but see above.

“Look at that thing! You would have gone straight to the bottom!”

Uhhh, yes please!

5) Love story.

Okay… this is the obvious one. Jack saved Rose twice. Once when she tried to throw herself off the back of the boat and again when he gave her the door to float on and didn’t even complain. Jack’s too manly and tough to complain about 28-degree water. *swoon*

Of course, there was room for the both of them and she should have shared… but Rose is selfish. Besides, can’t she let her man sacrifice his life for her?

“You jump, I jump, right?!”

Uhhh… wrong. If someone jumps into the Atlantic, I am not going in there after them. Do I look like a hero to you?

Point is… women love a “rich girl meets a poor boy and they fall in love and run away together” story. Particularly if he is brave and selfless and pulls her away from the oppression that is money.

6) Happy ending.

Yeah, yeah… so he dies and she lives and she goes on and lives her life without her one true love… but THEN!!! After living approximately 80 excruciating years without him, they are reunited in the end. They get married in heaven or her dreams or something…

PS– I had a hard time finding this picture while Googling “Titanic wedding”. I did, however, find plenty of Titanic-themed wedding ideas. Guess I know what my wedding theme is going to be…

I just must say… if Titanic ended the way I wanted it to… Jack and Rose would have floated away together on that door, been saved by dawn, and lived together for the rest of their lives. Also, she had the massive diamond in her pocket. They could have hocked it and been super duper rich. No more drawing naked chicks for dimes! YAHOO!

But that’s just me… 🙂

*I should mention that none of these photos are my own, and all were taken from Google’s search engine*

Happy weekend, ya’ll! 🙂

This post really makes me want hair! I remember watching that movie and WANTING her hairstyle so bad. All these years later, I still want it! Sigh… Love Titanic for all the reasons you stated 🙂 Why couldn’t she have just shared the door.. 😦

Although.. we probably wouldnt have loved the movie quite the same if it had happened that way.
